Think big Muslimah

Stop staring at those magazines that makes your heart attached to unbeneficial things.

The heart longs for materialistic things and you become discontent and ungrateful to Allah. You start yearning for things that are unnecessary. Thoughts like “I wish I could wear that in the upcoming events. How smart it looks etc”

The yearning, the thoughts will come into your head. Don’t buy them or read them.

Buy what’s necessary and a need. Infact buy things that can earn you reward.

I will give examples. Mothers who read magazines and find a toy or game interesting for their kids. What if their intention is that my child will learn and grow better and this will help him become a better Muslim, in sha Allah or this game can be used in charity events and it can help raise funds for a good cause. Or if you buy a good book that I will read it to my child and then give it to a school or library so that more children can benefit from it.

Or if a girl or woman yearns for jewellery or clothes or shoes, what if your intention is that I am planning to spend say Rs.3000,if I can save some amount for a good cause and spend some on myself that would be better. That way I am happy and I can make others happy too, in sha Allah.

Why not think differently?  Why not think big?

We are Muslimahs,we have to think big. We have to have a vision, a sense of purpose. A woman has a great role to play. With Allah’s Help, she can transform generations, in sha Allah.

Talk in the language people understand

Talk in the language people understand and can relate to, if you want to make a difference.

Using difficult words, concepts, sophisticated language will make understanding difficult.

I realized this when I was in school and college. Some teachers tend to do that. Some students will admire her for the “stylish language “. Some will call it show off, some will make fun of her, some will look down upon her, some will ignore. Different reactions.

Now when I teach, I try to keep in mind while making the lesson plan how that topic can be related to the audience/age groups I will be addressing.

Example, Surah takathur in Burooj angels class, teaching Qamar 3 (8-12 year old children ) is different from teaching youth or adults.

The child has to get the essence of the Surah.

For this, you require authentic knowledge. Teachers need to study the most especially those teaching small children. Children can come up with intelligent questions and answering them, that will help you think, grow and gain knowledge. Great opportunity to learn and grow. Alhamdulillah.

I found Islamic online university, bachelors in islamic studies, a very helpful resource, Alhamdulillah in many ways.when I am writing or talking. Wonderful resource, ma sha Allah. Helps clarify concepts. Alhamdulillah.

Its not just about creating an impression on others or appearing and sounding stylish. Social change is about reaching and touching hearts. The content should be simple, sincere, straight from the heart. Keeping in mind the background of the people.
I have seen people so dressed up and talking in a sophisticated manner in charity events, orphanages. Doesn’t make sense. Those girls won’t listen to you. They will be distracted by your clothes and other things they don’t have. They will hesitate to talk and share problems.

To understand them, to help them, you have to get to their level. Things they understand, examples they can relate to.
That way they will love you, respect you. They will long for your company, to benefit from you. Most importantly they will be willing to learn from you. They will remember the things you said and did.

May Allah make us people who have sincere concern for others welfare and those who do good to earn the Pleasure of Allah, to invest in our Akhirah. Ameen

Children and nasheeds

In the last 9 Months I have observed something about children and nasheeds and I am sharing it here.

Since childhood we hear songs,we sing hymns in schools and children pick up that very fast.

These songs have lots of shirk or filthy words and its useless speech. Moreover, they are accompanied by music.

I was a music lover in the past, loved hearing and singing hymns or movie songs. May Allah forgive me for that.

It was a great long struggle, overcoming it in steps and with Allah’s Help and guidance I overcame. Alhamdulillah.

Just deleting it from mobile or computer isn’t enough. And if you say I will quit, it won’t happen. Seek Allah’s Help. Be determined. Keep trying.

Reduce the duration of singing and hearing, then replacement with nasheeds and then gradually hearing other beneficial talks and khutbahs,Qur’an recitation . There will be times when you will be tempted to hear and sing, you will control sometime and sometimes you will give in to the temptation.

This taught me something and that I began to apply when I started teaching in Burooj and school.

In Islamic schools too, I found the children singing songs, they didn’t understand the meaning but they enjoyed singing and dancing on them.
Nasheeds taught in school are either played on cd or lyrics are recited in a tune children don’t enjoy. It gets boring.

If you think children will stop singing if you tell them not to, that’s not easy. Replace with that which is better.

The nasheed are mostly taught by female teachers and they feel nervous or afraid to try.

I have been teaching nasheeds in the islamic school , burooj and orphanage, Alhamdulillah and I can see the change. Allah is Great.

*The parents of these children told me that they sing them at home and now don’t feel like singing songs.

*The children who would sing songs before others now sang Islamic Nasheed in english and Arabic and parents are so proud and happy. So are the children. Alhamdulillah.

(I still see a lot of people proud and happy when their children sing songs and dance. And I am sure you all have some idea of what I am talking about. May Allah Guide us all. )

* The nasheeds have to be taught in a way children will enjoy, pick up fast and easy to learn and sing.

*Believe me even in free time, free period or break time in school, it’s a pleasure believe me entering a class where you hear children singing nasheeds confidently and in chorus without any help or instructions.

And what’s more amazing is three year old children can sing full nasheeds.

Alhamdulillah, an experiment I did with help and guidance from Allah and its working out. No music involved anymore now that I know many the nasheeds.

* If there is or was any bad habit, utilise the experience, observation, techniques, methods involved used to do bad in doing good. Seek Allah’s Help.

*Voice is a gift from Allah. When people tell you, you have a great voice or you can sing so well, don’t let that get to your head. So much that you aspire to become the singer or singing in public platform for different reasons and mixed gatherings .

I read a great story in my Islamic online university, second semester English subject and there was this message too.

Use that gift to recite Qur’an beautifully,to instill the love of Qur’an in others , praising Allah,or for educational purposes (learning months of Islam).

You don’t have to hold the mike and go on a stage and show off your voice and other stuff ( we all know what female singers do and are upto).

You don’t have to be on stage to showcase or utilise your talents to get fame.

Utilise your talents for bringing about as much good as you can, keeping in mind laws set by Allah and His Messenger.

Be humble. Everything you have is a gift from Allah. Today you have it, tomorrow you may not have.

Thank Allah for every blessing, for every gift and pray to Him to help you utilise it to serve His Deen and to benefit people for His Sake. Ameen

Trust Allah more

Trust Allah. How often do we trust people and then we suffer from heartbreak, depression and grief,we feel betrayed.

This happens in all relationships-parents -child, between spouses, friends, teachers -students, etc.

But what if we trust Allah that Allah will protect the one you love and care for from all evils, that He will keep you and the ones you care about steadfast and guided.

Trusting Allah will do wonders, in sha Allah. People can have selfish motives but Allah is the Lord of all things that exist, He is the Creator of all things. He is the best of planners. He will do what’s best for you. He knows your deepest secrets- the good ones and the bad ones. He knows you best.

Keep working hard, keep striving. Trust Allah more than you trust yourself or others.

Allah is sufficient for us all.
Allah is the Greatest.

Don’t worry about people’s opinion

There comes a time in your life when you no longer bother about people’s opinion of you. As long as you keep doing your best, as long as you are sincere to Allah, striving in His Path, seeking His Help to guide and help you.,as long as you don’t harm anyone intentionally and have no expectations from people . As long as you are trying to, striving to do all of the above. That’s it.

May Allah grant us that Eeman, peace, understanding and such circumstances.Ameen

No doubt, we are weak, we will make mistakes, give into desires and temptations but if the conscience nags you to ask for forgiveness, to repent, that will make all the difference, in sha Allah. It is a Mercy from Allah, Ar Rahman.

May Allah Guide us and keep us steadfast upon His Deen. May Allah protect us from all evils. Ameen
